Nigerian music stars Portable and Speed Darlington are set to go head-to-head in a highly anticipated celebrity boxing match. The fight is scheduled for April 18, 2025, at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos State.
The rivalry between the two controversial artists began in March when Speed Darlington offered Portable ₦500,000 to perform at his upcoming show. However, Portable rejected the offer, calling it an insult and branding Darlington as “poor.”
“You are inviting me for a show, and you don’t have money. You use my name to promote your show. I charge ₦20 million, ask around. I don’t know that you are poor. I don’t want to be friends with poor people,” Portable had said.
Speed Darlington, in response, regretted extending the invitation, questioning why he was met with insults instead of appreciation.
Following their heated exchange, Portable escalated the feud by challenging Speed Darlington to a physical fight, confidently claiming he would defeat him just as he did popular actor Charles Okocha in a previous boxing match.
Fans and social media users fueled the anticipation for a fight between the two artists, leading event organizers to officially set up the match.
Announcing the event on Instagram, the fight’s promoter, Mygamerush, confirmed: “You asked and now it is here. Two street kings battle for ultimate street supremacy.”
With both artists known for their outspoken and energetic personalities, the upcoming match is expected to be an explosive showdown that will settle their ongoing dispute in the ring.
