“The Traore Challenge”:
Burkinabé President Donates $85,00 Annual Salary to Orphans, Vulnerables
In an unprecedented show of humility and love, Burkina Faso President, Capt Ibrahim Traore, has donated his entire annual Presidential salary to orphans, Street children, and struggling single mothers across the country.
“I don’t want luxury while my people are hungry”, he declared.
During a surprise visit to an orphanage in the Capital Ouagadougou, Traore said:
“I sleep in comfort but thousands of my children sleep hungry, homeless and forgotten. That ends now. My salary belongs to them “.
The donation estimated at over $85,000 will go directly to building shelters for homeless children, providing school uniforms, food supplies for orphans; and supporting single mothers with start-up funds for businesses, and providing feeding in rural communities.
Citizens cry in tears of joy saying “we have never seen a leader like this in Burkina Faso”.
While African social media outlets are flooded with love, videos, prayers and praise; Western news outlets are silent, fearing that the truth may spark off a new wave of powerful African leadership.
The hashtag “Thank you Traore” is now trending in over 12 African countries.
Leaders across Africa are responding, with Ghana’s President hailing Traore’s unparalleled leadership.
South African students have launched a campaign to donate their pocket money to children in Burkina Faso tagging it “The Traore Challenge”.
President Traore’s final word to his people left many weeping.
“Power means nothing if it cannot protect the week. I don’t want a statue with my name. I want a future for my people”.
