President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has identified food security and regional economic inclusion as critical to Nigeria’s long-term stability and development.
Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at the 2025 Taraba International Investment Summit in Jalingo, Tinubu outlined his administration’s plan to transform Taraba State into an agricultural and industrial hub.
He described Taraba’s vast natural resources as a strategic advantage for national prosperity and called for a shift to industrial-scale farming.
“Food sufficiency is the first currency of national stability,” Tinubu said, underscoring the centrality of agriculture in his Renewed Hope agenda.
The President praised Taraba’s capacity in producing export-grade tea, coffee, and livestock, calling it a model for agro-industrial development.
He also emphasized the importance of infrastructure like the Kashimbila Dam as symbols of national ambition and practical utility.
Tinubu warned that Nigeria cannot rely solely on raw exports and must instead pursue value addition through factories, innovation clusters, and industrial parks.
He stressed that every region must contribute to national development, calling Nigeria a union of complementary strengths.
Commending Governor Agbu Kefas for hosting the summit, the President said Taraba is now firmly on the map of economic inclusion.
He assured that the federal government will actively support the state in converting its economic potential into measurable growth.
Tinubu also urged investors to consider Taraba’s clean energy mineral reserves, especially in light of global demand for lithium and cobalt.
Governor Kefas assured investors of peace, safety, and a business-friendly environment in the state.
Governor Umaru Bago, speaking for the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, reaffirmed subnational governments’ commitment to agricultural development.
Aliko Dangote pledged continued investment in Nigeria, urging support for local investors to attract foreign partners.
Tony Elumelu promised to partner with Taraba, highlighting the power of investment to empower youth and grow local economies.
The Sultan of Sokoto praised Governor Kefas for convening the summit, describing it as a historic step toward development and security.
