Superintendent of Police Josephine Adeh of the FCT Police Command has been named the Police Public Relations Officer of the Year 2024.
She received the prestigious honour at the Nigeria Police Award and Commendation Night held in recognition of excellence and commitment within the Force.
SP Adeh, visibly emotional during her acceptance speech, expressed deep gratitude to the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force for the recognition.
“I never expected it, but I’m glad I won,” she said, describing the award as motivation and proof that the hard work of police officers is not going unnoticed.
She dedicated the award to her boss and mentor, DIG Frank Mba, the Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, members of the press, and the general public.
SP Adeh emerged top from a competitive field of nominees drawn from across Nigeria’s 36 state police commands and the FCT.
Runners-up for the award included SP Tochukwu Ikenga of the Anambra State Command and DSP Maureen Chinaka of the Abia State Command.
The finalists were selected after a rigorous screening process conducted by a committee of senior officers and members of the Force Management Team.
The Nigeria Police Award and Commendation Night is an annual event celebrating officers and men for outstanding service in protecting lives and property.
Award categories at the event included Crime Buster of the Year, Community Policing Advocate of the Year, and Detective of the Year, among others.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Year award recognizes excellence in public communication, media engagement, and community relations by police spokespersons.
SP Adeh’s win highlights the growing importance of effective public relations in the policing framework and public trust in the Force.
