The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has promoted six academic staff members to the prestigious rank of Professor, reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence and merit-based advancement.
Among the newly promoted is the late Dr. Olanode Timothy Oshadare, posthumously honoured for his significant scholarly contributions to the university and academia.
Others elevated to the rank of Professor include Abraham Musa Peter, Alhassan Abdullahi Abdulrahman, Adelamwa Esther Bosede, Zubairu Sikiratu Uhuotu, and Kehinde Rotimi.
The promotions were officially approved by the University Governing Council and announced during the 93rd Senate meeting of the institution.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayemi Akinwumi congratulated the new professors, praising their dedication, hard work, and academic achievements.
He urged them to remain committed to research and publication, emphasizing that their scholarly journey had just begun.
“I beg you in the name of God, do not stop. Keep writing. Keep publishing. Your future starts now,” Professor Akinwumi told the new professors.
He also encouraged them to mentor younger academics, stressing the importance of nurturing future scholars to sustain institutional growth.
“As you rise to new heights, take others along. Pick up mentees and groom them to become like you, or even better,” he advised.
The announcement received applause and commendation from Senate members, who lauded the achievement as a milestone for both the individuals and the university.
The promotion exercise highlights FUL’s vision of building a thriving academic environment anchored in scholarship, mentorship, and service.
