The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) has dismissed as false and misleading the rumours of the removal of Senator George Akume from office.
In a statement issued on Saturday, June 29, 2025, the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, described the reports as “a fabrication and a figment of the imagination of mischief makers.”
He stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not made any such decision and holds unwavering confidence in Senator Akume’s capacity to implement the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The OSGF urged the public, media organisations, and digital platforms to verify information before dissemination to avoid undermining public trust and institutional integrity.
Imohiosen added that the statement issued earlier by Chief Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Strategy, aligns with the OSGF’s position.
He reaffirmed that Senator Dr. George Akume, CON, remains the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
