The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, has recorded a significant achievement in the nation’s academic landscape, emerging as the top institution in the 2024/2025 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) admission cycle for compliance with admission guidelines.
At the 5th National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards (NAPTAP-M), held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre on July 8, 2025, AFIT clinched the first position among Nigerian universities in adhering strictly to JAMB’s merit-based and standardized admission procedures.
This marks a leap from the 2023/2024 admission year, where the institution secured second place. Overall, in the combined NAPTAP-M performance for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 academic years, AFIT ranked fourth out of 172 universities nationwide, placing behind only Ahmadu Bello University (1st), the University of Ilorin (2nd), and Nile University (3rd).
The recognition affirms AFIT’s rising national profile and its commitment to transparency, meritocracy, and best practices in tertiary education.
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, praised the feat, describing it as a validation of the Nigerian Air Force’s strategic investments in educational development.
He reiterated that the Institute’s success reflects the CAS’s command philosophy, which prioritizes capacity building, excellence, and partnerships as critical pillars for developing Nigeria’s air power.
Established as the nation’s foremost aerospace higher learning centre, AFIT continues to distinguish itself as one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing tertiary institutions, both in academic output and national relevance.
With this latest recognition, AFIT appears well-positioned to shape the country’s future workforce through a sustained focus on innovation, quality education, and character development.
