Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, on Wednesday met with the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, during the latter’s visit to the state as part of his nationwide zonal tour of VON facilities.
This was disclosed in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House, Gombe.
The VON DG’s tour is designed to assess the condition of the broadcaster’s infrastructure, interact with staff across regional offices, and reposition the organization in line with global media standards and emerging digital trends.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya commended Malam Ndace’s leadership and vision for repositioning Voice of Nigeria as a globally competitive broadcaster and a key institution for projecting Nigeria’s narratives to the world.
He highlighted the role of VON in shaping public perception, strengthening unity through responsible journalism, and enhancing Nigeria’s image on the international stage.
The Governor praised the ongoing modernization drive under Ndace’s management, which is aimed at expanding VON’s reach and transforming it into a more vibrant and professional media institution.
He assured the DG of Gombe State’s readiness to support VON and deepen collaboration, particularly in content sharing with the Gombe State Media Corporation, cultural promotion, and public enlightenment initiatives.
In his response, Malam Ndace expressed appreciation to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for the warm reception and consistent support to VON’s mandate.
He commended the Governor’s achievements in governance and infrastructure, describing them as strides that deserve broader visibility through strengthened media partnerships.
Ndace stressed the importance of institutional collaboration between Gombe State and VON in the areas of information dissemination, capacity building, and positive image projection.
He explained that his ongoing zonal tour is aimed at revitalizing VON’s regional structures, boosting staff morale, and aligning the broadcaster with its renewed strategic direction.
Ndace emphasized that Voice of Nigeria is determined to deliver on its mandate as Nigeria’s external broadcaster by projecting the nation’s culture, values, and development milestones to the global audience in a more dynamic and digital manner.
