Ms. Grace Morenike Henry, Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, has announced a new direction for the organization aimed at restoring the dignity, welfare, and pride of Nigerian veterans.
In a press statement signed by Vet Abdul Lauya, Special Adviser on Media and Public Relations, the Legion said Ms. Henry’s leadership is committed to transparency, service, and renewal.
The statement noted that as an insider with first-hand knowledge of veterans’ struggles, Ms. Henry is determined to close gaps and build a strong foundation for a respected and vibrant institution.
At the heart of this plan is a 5-Point Strategic Action Agenda, tagged the “Legion Rebirth Blueprint”, which the Legion said will soon be formally unveiled.
Ms. Henry declared, “I lead the Legion of the veterans, by the veterans, and for the veterans. Our mission is clear – to restore honor, welfare, and pride to every Nigerian veteran while making the Legion a symbol of integrity and service.”
Analysts say this fresh agenda signals a shift from years of inertia, offering hope to veterans, widows, and orphans who have long yearned for reforms in welfare, pensions, and recognition.
The Legion emphasized that this blueprint is a deliberate effort to reposition the body as a true home for veterans and their families, and urged stakeholders to key into the vision.
Eye Reporters report that Ms. Henry’s leadership style, rooted in accountability and insider understanding, could help redefine the public image of the Nigerian Legion and rebuild respect for its role in national service.
