A disturbing video that went viral on social media has led to the arrest of a man identified as Shamsu, a resident of Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area in Kano State. The footage, which showed Shamsu placing his mouth near a goat’s private parts, sparked widespread outrage both online and within his local community.
The video, which surfaced on TikTok, featured Shamsu instructing an unseen person to record the act, stating that he did it “to trend” and gain social media fame.
Following public outcry, local residents raised the alarm, and a community leader quickly intervened by reporting the incident to the Kano Hisbah Board. The Islamic moral enforcement agency apprehended Shamsu on Tuesday and launched an investigation.
During questioning, the suspect denied actually licking the goat, claiming he only pretended to do so for the camera. He maintained that he was not under the influence of any substance and that it was his first time engaging in such behavior.
Despite his denials, the Hisbah Board has mandated a full psychiatric and drug evaluation to determine his mental and physical condition.
Reacting to the case, Deputy Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, Sheikh Mujahidden Aminuddeen Abubakar, expressed strong condemnation, describing the act as “deeply offensive” and a “shameful betrayal” of Islamic values.
“It is tragic that a Muslim man would subject himself to such a disgraceful act, ignoring all religious and ethical values. This individual clearly lacks any proper understanding of Islam. His pursuit of cheap social media fame has led him into disgrace,” Sheikh Abubakar stated.
The Hisbah Board reaffirmed its stance on upholding moral and religious standards in Kano State and cautioned others against using indecent content as a means to gain online attention.
