Popular Nigerian comedian Oluwaseyitan Lawrence Aletile, widely known as Seyi Law, has publicly declared that he will never support former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in any future political endeavor.
Speaking during an interview on the Tejubabyface show, Seyi Law revealed that his decision stems from a personal experience involving alleged verbal attacks directed at his wife and children by supporters of the Obidient movement—Peter Obi’s most vocal and active base.
According to him, the attacks came after he declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 elections. He stated that the incident crossed a personal line, one for which he has found no room for forgiveness.
“The moment you cross that boundary from me to my children, mother, and wife — there is no forgiveness,” Seyi Law said.
“That is why there is nothing on earth that Peter Obi can do that will make me support him… As long as Peter Obi will not call them to order and he keeps denying that they are doing that, he will never get my support.”
The comedian expressed disappointment in Peter Obi’s alleged inaction, emphasizing that any movement or group that does not accommodate opposing views or freedom of thought resembles a cult.
“Any organization that does not support free thinking is a cult,” he added.
Seyi Law, known for his political commentary as much as his comedy, has often been vocal about his views. This latest remark adds to the ongoing debate about the conduct and influence of political movements on public discourse and personal lives.
