The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed the military’s commitment to ending insurgency in North-East Nigeria.
General Musa made the assurance during an operational visit to the Headquarters Theatre Command Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri.
He announced plans to inject more platforms and combat enablers into the theatre to boost operational efficiency.
The CDS, after being briefed on recent developments in the region, urged troops to intensify aggression against Boko Haram terrorists.
He emphasized that the military must act with tenacity, as Nigerians view them as the nation’s last line of defense.
Earlier, Theatre Commander Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar commended the CDS for the visit and his consistent support for OPHK.
Before arriving at the headquarters, General Musa visited the site of a recent explosion at Giwa Barracks.
He received a detailed briefing from Brigadier General Abdul-Razak Kazeem of the 47 Engineers Brigade.
The CDS praised the Explosive Ordinance Disposal team for securing the affected area.
He urged them to maintain discipline and assured them of continued support.
