A student of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Miss Aisha Nna Muhammed, has qualified to represent Nigeria at the World University Games in Germany.
Aisha, from the Department of Biotechnology, earned her spot at the global event after winning the 800m and 1500m races at the FISU trials held at the University of Jos.
She will compete in both track events at the prestigious Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) Games, showcasing Nigeria’s talent on the world stage.
Her qualification follows her impressive performance at the 2024 African University Games, which earned her a one-year scholarship from FUL.
The Vice-Chancellor of FUL, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, received Aisha in his office on Monday alongside the Director of Sports, Mr. Ilori George Adebayo, and other university officials.
Professor Akinwumi praised her achievements and encouraged her to serve as a worthy ambassador of both Nigeria and FUL.
He described her selection as the beginning of a promising new chapter in her life and urged her to seize the opportunity fully.
The Vice-Chancellor also called on other students to strive for excellence in sports, assuring them of the University’s continued support and recognition.
He reiterated the administration’s dedication to nurturing sporting talent and producing well-rounded graduates prepared for both academic and athletic excellence.
Aisha’s qualification marks a milestone for FUL, reinforcing the University’s commitment to sport development and international representation.
