The National Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Ms Grace Morenike Henry, has paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.
During the visit, Ms Henry passionately highlighted critical issues affecting the welfare of military veterans and called for greater institutional recognition of the Nigerian Legion.
She advocated for strengthened collaboration with the Ministry to enhance veteran-focused initiatives and sustain efforts that restore dignity to ex-servicemen and women.
Ms Henry specifically requested the allocation of befitting office spaces for the Nigerian Legion at state levels to improve grassroots service delivery.
She also appealed for logistics support to boost the operational capacity of the Legion’s National Headquarters.
In response, the Defence Minister expressed deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigerian veterans and commended Ms Henry’s commitment to their cause.
Alhaji Badaru assured the Legion of the Ministry’s unwavering support, stating that veterans deserve respect, care, and continued engagement as a matter of right.
He encouraged the Legion to raise issues openly, emphasizing that the current administration is willing to listen and act on veterans’ concerns.
The visit underscored a renewed partnership between the Ministry of Defence and the Nigerian Legion for the benefit of the Nigerian veterans.
