Eye Reporters wishes to issue a corrigendum regarding our July 31, 2025 report originally headlined: “MPB Clears Gratuity, SDA Shortfalls for Over 2,000 Veterans.”
The report erroneously claimed that the Military Pensions Board (MPB) paid both gratuity and Security Debartment Allowance (SDA) shortfalls.
Eye Reporters has since clarified that SDA is not paid by the MPB, but rather by the respective Service Headquarters, Nigerian Army, Navy, or Air Force, at the point of disengagement.
The MPB’s mandate is strictly limited to the payment of pensions and gratuities to eligible military retirees.
Accordingly, the corrected headline now reads: “MPB Begins Payment of Gratuity Shortfalls to Affected Pensioners.”
We regret the mix-up and apologize for any confusion caused by the earlier publication.
Eye Reporters remains committed to accuracy, clarity, and upholding the trust of our readers, especially within the military and veterans’ communities.
