Reports claiming that Kannywood star and Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation, Ali Nuhu, has died are false.
The Corporation has publicly dismissed the rumours, confirming that the actor is alive and carrying out his official duties.
This is not the first time Nuhu has been declared dead on social media, as similar false claims surfaced in the past, including allegations of his death during an armed robbery and unverified reports that he contracted COVID-19.
In both instances, Nuhu personally debunked the stories, describing them as baseless fabrications and even citing Mark Twain’s famous line that news of one’s death can be “greatly exaggerated.”
The persistence of such rumours reflects a wider trend in Nigeria where celebrities are often subjected to viral misinformation, fueled by the speed of social media and the appetite for sensationalism.
While Nuhu remains active in both the film industry and his administrative role, the controversy underlines the urgent need for audiences to rely on credible media platforms rather than unverified online chatter.
Ultimately, the recurring death hoaxes around the actor highlight not just the dangers of misinformation but also his enduring visibility and influence as one of Nollywood and Kannywood’s most recognisable figures.
