The Folo Dadiya and Paramount Ruler of Dadiya Chiefdom in Balanga Local Government Area of Gombe State, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr Abdulkkadir Abubakar Galadima III, has commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for creating Balanga South Local Council Development Area.
The first class monarch expressed joy that the headquarters of the newly created LCDA was located in Bambam, the traditional and administrative seat of the Dadiya nation worldwide.
During the first civilian administration of Gombe State under the late Governor Habu Abubakar Hashidu in 2002, Dadiya Local Council Area was created with its headquarters in Bambam.
However, the council was scrapped in 2004 by Governor Muhammad Danjuma Goje at the beginning of his first tenure, a move that was widely perceived as a setback for the Dadiya people.
Governor Yahaya’s action is therefore seen by many as a restoration of what is due to the people, as although the new council bears a different name, the headquarters remains in Bambam, symbolizing continuity and recognition.
Speaking on the development, HRH Galadima described the gesture as a mark of honor and recognition for the Dadiya people, noting that it would further promote inclusiveness, peace, and development in the area.
“This singular decision by His Excellency is not only historic but also a testament to his visionary leadership and love for grassroots development,” the royal father said.
He added that the siting of the headquarters in Bambam would bring governance closer to the people and foster greater unity among the diverse communities of Balanga South.
The monarch assured the governor of the unwavering loyalty and support of the Dadiya people, pledging to mobilize his subjects towards sustaining peace and cooperation with the state government.
Dadiya Chiefdom, one of the oldest traditional institutions in Gombe South, holds significant historical and cultural importance in the state’s political landscape, with Bambam serving as a center of administration, tradition, and identity for the Dadiya people.
Over the years, the Dadiya stool has played a stabilizing role in the politics of Gombe South, often mediating between communities and fostering unity across ethnic and religious lines in Balanga and beyond.
The creation of Balanga South LCDA, with Bambam as its headquarters, is therefore seen not only as administrative restructuring but also as recognition of the Dadiya people’s central role in the socio-political development of Gombe State.
